Why I Started EatSafe Japan
Living in Yokohama, I’ve seen firsthand how much visitors love Japanese food — and how stressful it can be for those with food allergies. Japan’s cuisine is incredible, but it’s also full of hidden allergens that can be hard to identify, especially when there’s a language barrier.
I created EatSafe Japan to bridge that gap. With my background in food, English communication, and hospitality, I provide the personalized support that travelers need to dine safely and enjoyably in Japan.
What Makes Us Different
We’re local. Based in Yokohama, we know the restaurants, the culture, and the language. We’re not an app or an automated tool — we’re a real person who walks into the restaurant with you.
We cover all allergies. Nut, dairy, gluten, egg, shellfish, soy, sesame — whatever your allergy, we’ve got you covered. Most services only focus on gluten-free. We go far beyond that.
We make it personal. Every traveler’s needs are different. We don’t use one-size-fits-all solutions. Your allergy card, restaurant list, and dining plan are customized specifically for you.
Where We Operate
Our home base is Yokohama, and we cover the following areas for in-person accompaniment:
- Yokohama — Our home ground. From Chinatown to Minato Mirai, we know every corner.
- Tokyo — The world’s greatest food city. We’ll help you navigate it safely.
- Kamakura — Traditional temples and local restaurants with a laid-back atmosphere.
- Hakone — Hot spring resorts with unique dining experiences.
Remote support (Light Plan and Plan A) is available for any location in Japan.
Let’s Make Your Trip Delicious — and Safe.
